Before and After–CAG show at the CAC office–how art really enlivens a space !

Hallway before the art

Hallway at the Chatham Arts Council Office before the  Chatham Artists Guild  art goes up

The Chatham Artists Guild began as the Studio Tour, a program of the Chatham Arts Council. The years went by and along the way the Studio Tour became its own entity. We changed our name to the Chatham Artists Guild to reflect our broader focus; we’re not just the one Tour anymore.

Now here we are 25 years later and to celebrate, the Guild and the Arts Council are putting on a show together! The Arts Council is now housed in a cute little house in downtown Pittsboro, just a couple blocks from the courthouse on 64 west. Guild artists have filled the walls  and rooms with beautiful art and wow, does it look good! I keep meaning take “before and after shots” when I hang shows and always forget. Not this time!

Not to rush the month but looking ahead…Mockernut and Nature Art Gallery shows

As often happens in the Fall, the art events start to pile up and there is some overlapping in my exhibitions. My “Clay for the Wall” exhibit continues through the end of the month at the Joyful Jewel in Pittsboro.

The next opportunity to see some of my paintings, cards and watercolors will be at the Mockernut Show at Doug Dotson’s pottery studio north of Pittsboro. I’ll have the pleasure of showing among 4 talented artists in one lovely, woodsy setting. You can google it or look for it on Facebook. The show is September 23rd & 24th, 10 – 4pm.

In October, I will have an exhibit in the Nature Art Gallery at the NC Museum of Natural Sciences in Raleigh.  The show is called “Deer, Oh Dear” and will be on display the entire month of October.  There will be acrylic and watercolor pieces with deer as the subject matter. The reception will be Saturday, October 7th from 2 – 4.
