Some really big watercolors

A game on Facebook, “Art Challenge,” has got me digging through my stacks a bit and taking pictures of things that I’ve never posted before. ┬áThese three really large (36″ x 48″) watercolors were done in 2004 during a residency at the Vermont Studio Center. While I was there, I saw Carole Robb’s work and had a critique session with her.

The slides she showed us of her current work then were of large watercolors. She talked about the task of trying to get a big enough pool/bowl of color mixed up so her big brush would carry a stroke all the way across a big page. It was a great project for me to work on while I was there.
