Yellowy-green-gold–the color of the moment

I painted a starting layer on these 5 canvases on Friday. Something about that yellow. I got that yellow by mixing yellow ochre, dialyride yellow, titanium white, a dab of spring green and a dab of pthalo blue.

And then I used that yellow to calm down the background in this painting.

Which I realized was much like the butter yellow glaze I used on the last batch of clay pieces—aha! Both of these pieces are at the Joyful Jewel in Pittsboro, by the way.
